This feeling I know pretty well. Fortunately my work is pretty flex time so I don't really care and just flow with how I feel. Here's some tips in no particular order that work.

- cut sugar and caffeine down
- alcohol will also fuck with your sleeping patterns
- sleep in a DARK quiet room
- go to bed at the SAME time regardless of how you feel
- exercise regularly, hard exercise from the late afternoon will make you tired later evening
- don't watch, read, or listen, to ANYTHING stimulating later int he evening . . . like the interwebs It sets your brain off.
- maybe experiment with meditation
- Diphenhydramine works
- if after doing these things maybe experiment with melatonin supplements.

If you do all of these things and you still can't get to sleep, you need to go to a serious specialist.

I read an article the other day that about 70,000 years ago, the Toba super volcano erupted and dimmed the skies around the world for a few years when the planet was already entering an icea age. The resulting loss in plant and anmial productivity (we were hunter gatherers) dropped so significantly that some geneticists believe the entire human population . . . of Earth, may have gone as low as forty (40!) breeding pairs. It took thousands of years for the population to recover.

No.

We make what we want, but use base code. That's why MG, for better and worse is different than all other sites. The biggest main things it will help us with is dealing with media in a more coherent manor. And providing a base from which we can make the garage/rides look and work a hell of a lot better.

Motorgen has more hidden features than most sites have features! We just don't have enough time to make them swing.

Shaolin Crane
11-08-2012, 11:23 AM
I'd only make as much horsepower as I could afford to use. No need to make 800rwhp if i'm afraid to drive the car because the trans will grenade, axles snap, control arms break or running the sump dry. I like to build my cars in a useable window. The blue car and the gray car are both perfect examples of this, my diesel, well that was my lesson.

Man, I have the worst luck with injuries. Of all the shit I do, getting punched in the face, punching people, kicking trees and other bone strengthening drills. I have the oddest things that injure me. I had a tic tac split my molar in half. Back spasm that pulled 2 ribs from my spine, now today. I stepped over a case of water and somehow fractured my right knee. I've broken it pretty badly before so this is likely an aftershock of prior injuries.

We'll see how it goes, but may be fixing to buy a family compound. Yes, for serious. 10 acres on a hill with some awesome views, 1,000 square foot shop, orchard, well (needs fix'n) and stuff. I have to pay a price in commute distance, my present 4 miles to 40, but it's gonna be worth it overall I think. Plus I need some shake up in my life. I've wanted land for a long time and this is a peculiar opportunity in a weird ass market condition. So, gotta strike while the iron is hot.

No money in professional fighting, at least not for a very very long time. Besides, It's not just the fighting I enjoy, it's the martial arts as a whole. I've done amateur fights and didn't enjoy it much. Mostly they want you to fight as many times in a night as it takes until you lose or they're happy.

Doesn't mean I can't put forth as much effort into it as if it was my livelihood. That's what martial arts is all about. I made my profession in the exact area I wanted.

The blue car and the gray car are both perfect examples of this, my diesel, well that was my lesson.

And not everyone can afford to build a car with all the right pieces at once: me. Like I keep saying, plans to upgrade to the 12 bolt, axle hoops, and now 13.5" Z51 brakes sitting in my garage thanks to Carlos... then my car will be able to make use of the power ;)

I was just stating what the dyno sheet said which was 461rwhp and 462rwtq.

It can be done, already proved it to you :p hahaha

Like Guy said, launching on a prepped street isn't the same as launching on a normal street. Even with my slicks on if I floor the Chevelle from a stop on the street it will spin the tires and that without the transbrake or N2O. At the track the car pulls the front tire about an inch or two.

My penis is subsequently just as large. Imagine that.

No I understand completely, sort of like how I have no interest in racing my car.

I want to take up kick boxing or ju jitsu or something like that. Something thatll teach me how to throw punches with less time invested... I dont have ten years to learn karate and proper form. Or maybe I do... but dont want to. Ha

Oh no, Im not trying to boast. But I hadnt fully put my foot into the car for a long ass time, and Ive never been in another car with lots of power. So after a few months of driving my Jeep it makes me giddy.

In hs the fastest car I had ever been in was an LS f body, bone stock. Then Seans Cobra (before the pulley and tune I think?) so Im hp deprived.

AFAIK, Krav Maga and Systema (Russian, but quite similar) are the most to the point combat effective real world martial arts I'm aware of. They teach brutality to end fights as fast possible, defending against multiple attackers, and disarming an armed attacker. They spend a lot of time getting your head wrapped around the idea of being massively violent without any real restrictions to an opponent. I would actually like to pick up some basic hand to hand self defense skills, but I don't want to hurt my hands in the process (musician).

If I had forever I'd do Aikido. Not really that physically practical, but I just like the style and philosophy. Though the way it's still taught in Japan is much closer to its Aikijutsu roots, which was a genuine martial (combat) art. But it's designed for fighting armored people, so sort of all about locks and breaks given that punching someone in armor is of limited utility.

Along similar lines for psychological/mental reasons, I'd like to do Kendo.

Shorinji Kempo is the same FYI. Most techniques when performed are identical and very difficult to decipher between the two. As with san shao. In fact san shao is the oldest of the combat martial arts, next shaolin chuan fa, then shorinji kempo.

Aikido was developed by the samurai as a way to defend themselves while in armor without their swords, or if someone was too close to practically draw their sword.

Kempo, kung fu, tai chi, muay thai, ninjutsu(although requires a great deal of prior training) would all be perfectly acceptable forms of practical defense to practice without injury to your hands.

If you're just looking for an art to practice for the sake of discipline, shinkendo(battojutsu) kendo, happkido, budo arts, jiujitsu, so bak doh, and ecsrima would fit well.

I did Aikido for a while. While it grew out of Aikijutsu, which was a Samurai martial art, it is relatively new and integrates many thoughts of the founder on peace and harmony. For example, there are no strikes really and everything is oriented around redirection. It's essentially an anti-agressive "martial" art. Which is what I like about it . . but, in a street fight bar room brawl, not sure how useful it would be, plus takes a long time to get good at since it depends heavily on being extremely aware of yourself and your opponent. At it's best though, it's pretty gnarly what a far weaker person can do to a far stronger one.

FTR, motochi, my partner and background coder of MG has been training and teaching San Su Kung Fu for decades.

Like I said, it was developed not for damage, but exactly as you stated, for redirecting in close attackers then following up with a different sort of attack, sword, tonfa, boken, kama, hand strike etc. If you'd like i'd be happy to teach you battojutsu/shinkendo.

And I recall you saying motochi was an avid instructor as well.

I guess all I'm saying is making a distinction between Aikido and its direct ancestor.

DaitoRyu AikiJuJutsu= fuck their shit up, goal to kill, functional martial art

Aikido = disable with least amount of damage, minimal force doctrine,

The second, crew cab, slightly less miles, but I get a weird feeling about. That and for whatever reason is looking fucking dated. I'm going with the blue one, paint is in excellent shape, he's the original owners, interior is in excellent condition, all records available. He wants 3750, has high miles 288k, but its not an issue for the engine, however i'll be buying a spare trans to work on before the original pops.

The crew cab is what I want but has had shoddy paint repair that is yellowing, looks like its been through it's paces and I get a weird feeling about it. And the one in hollywood looks fuckin beat and the owner is super hard to get a hold of.

I can also say the market seems to be moving, houses are starting to sell (banks are constraining supply heavily). I don't know how long the window will be open and I don't have a crystal ball, but I do think that if anyone has a hankering to get a place, and they even sort of have the means, I don't think it's going to get much better. Shops are on the whole ghost towns at night and relatively safe. Some of the neighborhoods out there are anything but, and it can be real hit and miss within just a few blocks. I like crimereports.com, but it seems the PD out there don't report their stats so it's a bit blank. When you get to making an offer you can have your buying agent have the seller provide a property report from the title company which will include crime stats. No way you're going to have a real safe area, but you don't want to be surrounded by gangs and meth heads either and they're out there. Anyway, you know what you're doing I'm just being preachy. Shops are not qhost town unfortunately. People know there arent many people there at night so the risk of burglary is often much much higher. I know i've stopped a few at our shop here.

I'm not going for just any place in fontana/rancho. It will need to be near the 210 as much as possible. If not, i'm not going to make an offer on a property just because it's in my price range.

Thanks for the words though. I'm on the cusp of having everything gone and paid off. I've been taking small loans out for things and paying them off pretty quickly so my credit has been shooting through the roof. Last I checked in march I was up to 720. I've paid off a few since then so i'm likely in the 740ish range which should easily net me the house I need as long as my debt to income is in line.

It really isn't in my scope as far as what you need to get across but... an birth certificate and drivers license should work, social security and driver's license.

To be technical about it, you really don't need anything, as an American citizen you have every right to be here. But based on the nature of who is crossing out border they need some way to verify who you are for security reasons. Basically hey want to make sure you are not a terrorist. If you have your birth certificate and a drivers license you should be straight.

Do NOT go into Mexico with a gun or at least be aware of the risk you are taking. That is a major violation there and if you get nickced on their side of the border you can be in a world of shit in a hurry. This is serious.

Do not take this stuff to Mexico. Period.

Guns are illegal in Mexico. Do not attempt to cross the border with a gun and/or ammunition. You will be put in jail.

. . .
Guns and drugs mean jail time

Bringing guns into Mexico is a bad idea, period. Even a lone bullet rolling around in your trunk can get you thrown in jail . So if you have ever had any firearms, ammunition or associated paraphernalia in your vehicle, check it thoroughly for any remnants and remove them before going to Mexico. You do not want to play with this one.

Major violation or not, EVERYONE has iron over there. It's not a bad idea logically to bring it with me. I was asking specifically for entering the US with a registered hand gun, to an American citizen.

Even if I don't go with it, I have a good friend who made a call for me to "people" we'll call them to make sure that i'm looked out for. I just have a thing about traveling with my slug slinger, anywhere I go, it comes with me.

So, little update on the truck. The seller sent some VERY high res pics today. Trucks been repainted and has some orange peel but nothing that cant be wet sanded. Also found out while speaking to his wife (translator) that he's Federal P.D. and can bring the truck across the border for me to chula vista. Which just so happens to have an AAA office as well, so i'll be able to obtain the temp permit to drive it home. Woot! So friday i'll be making my trip to get my new truck.

The seller accepted our counter offer to their counter offer. Now it's a bit tense because they insist on closing by 12/26 or they'll cancel the purchase agreement and keep the property. Thanks Obama! This is a tax related issue as the investment sur tax for funding Obama-care takes effect on January 1st and that makes a difference of tens of thousands to them. Unfortunately the lenders are Fucking swamped so it might be a little tight. Fingers crossed.

Physical attraction is a fascinating subject. Purely subjective and based on both biological and cultural factors. As for me, I'm attracted to a fairly large range of women, any race or mix, fairly petite to Amazon queen, doesn't matter so much to me. My wife is a petite Japanese, the attraction was more on common interest and personality. Curiously, God forbid, if anything happened to her, I would probably end up with another Japanese because at this point the way I communicate and relate to a woman has been profoundly influenced by that experience. Worse, she's quirky for Japanese so I'd have a real hard time. Here's hoping it's never a problem.

Don't get me wrong, I've had more than my fair share of different nationalities as far as women go.p My favorite was a ridiculously hot Costa Rican chick. But lack of any common ground (outside the bedroom) kinda let things go stagnate. I also really liked the one black chick I dated for a while. But I always find my way back to a latina or white chick. Usually with some pretty hefty knockers. Haha

From my friend who has worked Customs and Immigration for almost 20 years now.

We cannot stop a US Citizen from coming back into the United States. Period. Now, Mexico may stop him from going into Mexico, but if someone comes up to the border naked, with no Identification, but we believe he is a US Citizen via questioning him, we have to let him into the USofA.

It's against the law for us to deny him admission.

Also, a birth certificate is Prima Facia evidence of US Citizenship.

It already has a 1,000 square foot shop with a roll-up separate from everything else. Fully wired 240 (in fact I think he's making fantom 3 phase given the equipment he's running) and pneumatic. I'll post a video, the guy had a complete machine shop in there (multiple mills, lathes, etc.)

Vettezuki
11-20-2012, 06:01 PM
I was trying to bundle it, but he wants to auction them off separate to net some extra cash. I wouldn't want to go terribly above the property price for it. I'm not a machinist and that's what this shop is. It would actually be a bit of a pain if I moved into it as is. It's all pre-CNC. Nicely maintained though and in excellent condition. I was a little blown away. Didn't expect that much. Definitely six figures in original dollars. Probably doing good to get $10-20K now. Mexico and hobbyists are about the only markets for pre-CNC.

Vettezuki
11-21-2012, 12:40 PM
Here's a vid of the shop. Sorry I didn't think to hold the phone sideways, doh. Anyway, first thing I'll do is apoxy the the whole floor to be non slip and oils resistant. I'll consider a lift down the road. Not sure if this will end up a combo car/wood shop, or just a kind of car/metal fab. My brother's business is full wood design and manufacturing, so if I want to do wood projects, I can just do them there. Of course with 10 acres, doubling the shop size is not exactly a problem. Just money!

That's if we manage to get it, because there are so many goddamn hoops to jump through it's ridiculous. And I'm pretty good at this shit. The main issue now is we'd be going in at about 10% down, which requires PMI. It's unclear, but some lenders as part of PMI require verification that all buildings are fully permitted. There is a kind of conversion on the house and this shop, both of which are in fact well built, but not permitted. So we have to figure out, DAMN FAST, if we can find a lender that doesn't require permitted buildings as part of <20% down w/PMI or bump to 20% down.

4. Is biodiesel regulated under APSA?
Yes. However, 100 percent biodiesel is not considered petroleum and, therefore, is not regulated under APSA.

Homebrew B100 is what I'd be using it for if anything anyways.

Also,

What tank facilities are exempt from the APSA program?
A tank facility located on a farm, nursery, logging site, or construction site, while still regulated under APSA, is not subject to the requirement to prepare and implement an SPCC Plan if:
␣ no storage tank at the location exceeds 20,000 gallons; and, ␣ the cumulative storage capacity of the tank facility does not exceed 100,000
gallons.
The owner or operator of an exempted tank facility located on a farm, nursery, logging site, or construction site, is required to take the following actions:
␣ Conduct a daily visual inspection of any aboveground tank storing petroleum. ␣ Allow the UPA to conduct a periodic inspection of the tank facility. ␣ If the UPA determines installation of secondary containment is necessary for the
protection of the waters of the state, install a secondary means of containment for each tank or group of tanks where the secondary containment will, at a minimum, contain the entire contents of the largest tank protected by the secondary containment plus precipitation.
Please note that while farms, nurseries, logging sites, or construction sites are conditionally exempt from the requirement to prepare an SPCC Plan under APSA, these facilities are not exempt from federal SPCC requirements enforced by US EPA.

Maybe I'll just move it inside the big shop and make a biodiesel station that's completely out of sight. Nobody is up there and if it literally can't be seen by eye unless entering a building, should be good an indefinite period.

At some point, if you have knowledge in this area, I'd like you to take a look at the manual pump(s) on it if they're not in working order.
