Would you typically put some loctite on rocker studs?

Took the Vette to get washed last night and not far out it started making a hell of a noise. I stopped immiedately. Having just changed the springs I thought it was probably a loose rocker. Yep. However, I seated, and kdracer73 checked how tight they were. I redid them tonight, bascially just bottoming them out. Any more and they might break. Just wonder'n would you guys consider putting a dab of loctite to make sure the little bastards stay put?

I do. After slapping an exhaust valve off the piston I don't trust just meeting the torque spec. as long as it's steel on steel, I use loctite.

Yes. I'd use blue loctite if you have aluminum heads.

Are you talking about the stud where it threads into the head or the poly locks like are in the picture? If you are referring to the poly locks you shouldn't have to use Loctite. I've never used it on the Chevelle and have never had an issue with them. You just have to make sure you tighten lock screw down good.

I probably shouldn't have said stud. It's just a bolt that goes threw the rocker into the head and I mean on the the threads of said bolt.

So you have pedestal mount rockers like I have on the Cobra? The torque spec for my rockers is 23ft/lbs but I set mine at 25 and haven't had one come loose.

Aren't you supposed to use engine oil on those like head bolts?

Yes, pedestal mounts. Don't know the torque spec on mine. Mmm, probably should look that up. :smack:

AFR recommended teflon paste for mine. Just to make sure they go in smooth and the torque reading is accurate, since screwing into aluminum is scary.

I use copper coat on all bolts on anything on my engine that is aluminum. Works wonders for me.

I just use oil on the rocker bolts but I use anti-seize on the spark plugs.
