The Austin Stingray Sharks had a dyno day today. Cam upgrade yielded approx.70 rwhp/rwtq improvement. This 'Vette runs hard! 625rwhp/595rwtq.

You make me want to upgrade my cam. I think I'll stick with saving up for a fuel pump first though.

Great numbers! What size engine is it? Also, is that AFR correct? If so, wow that's lean.

I thought the same thing.

Vettezuki...it's my old 383. The dyno a/f sensor was way out of calibration. Same errors on all vehicles. I am running FAST fuel injection with wideband O2 sensor...it won't allow lean runs. I have the upper boost cells set between 11 and 12:1 a/f ratio.

Next question. Are you running sticky rubber and if so, what do you have for a rear end setup (diff, hs, u-joints) to keep it from going kaboom?

Just running stock stuff, Spicer joints of course. I also have a very stiff rear spring. I have 325/50 Drag radials on her now, but i dare not dump the clutch. I did run the street tires very hard...I'm sure the diff. is on it's last legs. BTW, it smoked the drag radials on the dyno. I had to drop the air in them to stop the slipping.

Launching well in a C3 is diffult. I'm at a mere 390 WHP, and there is VERY fine line between lugging and spinning the tires. I am set up very hard all around (more for handling), so that doesn't help of course. Yeah, you're diff gonna go boom if your tires hook hard. When that happens, what are you going to go to?

My plan is to go to a 4L80 automatic, (I know,...sacrilegious). This will surely make for much more consistent launches...and save the drive-train at the same time. I'll rebuild and install better parts as needed.

If launching consistently, saving drive line, and straight line acceleration is the goal, basically can't beat a good automatic.

All good things, no? And it will make getting 9 second time slips that much easier.

All good if you want to give up a little on handling setup and mixing your own gears for twisty driving. No right or wrong, just a matter of what you want. For what you want, it's the way to go. :drink:

I'll keep the autocross suspension in the 'Vette. It will still handle just fine. I will hang on to the manual gear stuff if I want to revert.

What kind of 60' are cutting? The best I've gotten on DRs is 1.9, which ain't all that hot.

Dyno video added. Note the tire smoke at the end of the pull.

That 6 speed auto is pretty sweet. In manual mode, you can make rev matched downshifts like you were heel and toeing a manual. Hopefully you can tune the transmission to shift quicker. I sometimes hit the rev limiter before the tranny can shift out of first into second.

Before the supercharger, I was doing 1.80's with M/T E-T Streets. Don't know yet about the drag radials.
