Default New car Camaro/Mustang

Darlene needs a car. So, we've been checking things out now that she is working.

She wants a Camaro in the worst way. I'm not totally sold on the vehicle. I don't like what I've been reading on how it handles or it's weight. GM taking our money has me thinking twice also.

I'd prefer the Mustang but I feel it's underpowered and it's gas mileage is not even as good as the Camaro SS2.

So tonight we are going over to Connell Chevy- maybe test drive one.

If I get to drive one I'll let you know what I think. Having drove a 69 SS 350 Camaro brand new- should be interesting.

BTW; When I drove that 69 Camaro---I said to myself; "What a fucking pig."

I'm afraid that GM might have screwed the new one up also.

Here's the pricing I've been looking at Camaro-----SS1 or SS2 $34,000 to 38,000
Mustang-----GT $31,000 to 35,000

Well, I think the Mustang is the better daily driver, but it is indeed underpowered. You could wait for the 5.0 DOHC 400hp Mustang GT to take care of that problem, but then you'd be waiting until probably May or June of next year. The only other option for the Mustang would be to wait until Ford announces the 2011 engines and then try to get a smoking deal on a 2010. If you could get a leftover 2010 in the high 20's, you could get the factory installed supercharger and still be out the door for under 35k. That would also take care of the power problem.

The Camaro is a great car but I think you're going to have a hard time finding one that isn't optioned out to at least 35k+.

The only other option is a Pontiac G8. It's a 4-door obviously, but you can get one for under 30k and it is RWD and V8. It runs on 87octane and is easily modded.

I guess the Ford Racing supercharger kit (you get to keep your warranty) is about $5995. It's a little expensive in my opinion, but if you can pick up a leftover 2010 for say 27, then for 33k you could have a very nice car

0-60 on the GT is only 0.1s slower than the camaroSS and 0.5 sec difference in the 1/4 according to the almighty youtube...plus dealer markup and douchebaggary on the SS is a major turnoff

but I dislike GM now too so, I too am biased.

Yep, they wouldn't let us test drive the SS. Darlene is picking up the order form for the Camaro today. They had a 3,000 dollar mark up on the SS. No markup on an ordered vehicle. So it looks to be about 35,000 to 38,000. Darlene is thinking Transformers option. I'm not against it. Well see what we end up with.

Went to a FORD lot and they had TWO GT 500s. Stickers were 48,000 to 50,000 with markup they were around 80,000.

BUT-- in the back they had TW0 PJ BOSS 302s, two OLDER GT 500s and....................................ROUSH 427--$45,000 with 12,000 miles. Darlene really liked that car.

If you're going to order, hit up Mike Luna or Robb Rock at Camino Real Chevrolet. Most of the Camaro5 guys have been dealing with them and have been happy with the experience

We actually have a really good guy named COWBOY/Monte. He is not bad and VERY easy to work with. BUT, it never hurts to talk to other people.

They only want $500 to place order---it's the price when you pick up the SS that hurts.
