I guess it's my touchy feely side. Some people grow up in total shi* environments and for one reason or another can end up addicted, starting with a desire to escape the world they have to face everyday. Once an addict, their brain is working against them day and night, they're a slave.

Ehhh i think all the environment stuff is bullshit. My mother was and still is a raving coke/heroine/speed/meth/dope fiend. Who regularly trips out on them. She tried to strangle me in my sleep, locked me in my room for days at a time,etc etc. And yet to this day i have never touched anything like that, not even alcohol, ever.

I know where you're coming from and make essentially your argument when arguing with people who say it's all, or almost all, environment, and that people don't really have free will. That's definitely BS. But environment is clearly not a non-factor either. It gets mighty complicated.
