Next weekend, 08-28-2010 & 08-29-2010 is the Crossroads of the West Costa Mesa gun-show. I will probably be going Sat, but not too sure yet. Any others going? If you are planning on going, buying your tickets on line on the COTW web-site will save you a lot of pain and agony in the waiting line.

Well, we'll be shooting out at Lytle on the 28th. I needs to buy us some bullets and probably powder on the cheap for our little cottage industry we've got started, but I don't know if they'll have any left on Sunday.

I buy as little as possible at the shows due to their horrific prices, but I do occasionally find a bargain and I do like to go and see old friends. I would think that powder would still be available, but items such as loaded bullets, bullets for loading, such as lead, and brass cases will still be generally unavailable in the hard to get calibers. I would not expect a change in that for some time, and maybe never. Part of that is a local thing, prices higher in kali, and a lot of items are unavailable in Kali. You will really find that noticeable if you ever get into high $ handguns, such as Les Bear, (only about 10 models or so are qualified for Kali sales), Ed Brown, (only 3 models are qualified for sale in Kali), I think that some of the Wilsons are unavailable also in Kali, Volkman Custom, (none are available for sale in Kali), Rock River Arms, I don't think that any are available in Kali. Also, no variations from what the manufacturer qualified for sale in Kali are allowed. Even plating and or processing changes can't be ordered from the manufacturer. Sux. If I had the money, I would move out of here in a heartbeat to a more liberal state.

Please enumerate the desirable, yet hard to get calibers.

everyone calibers, 9mm, .38, and .45 or at least what im assuming

OK, I don't know the best way to do this. I shoot & load strictly .45 auto, so most of my knowledge is limited to that caliber. I really can't say caliber by caliber or item by item, but the items that you have been able to buy at the gun show in the past are probably still available, and the items that you want but haven't been able to buy for a while are probably still unavailable. Go to any of your favorite on line web site places to buy components and see what they have available, >WWW.PowderValley.Com<, see what they have for cases, and that is probably what will be available at the shows. Any self-defense ammo that was pretty fairly priced in the past is probably either unavailable, or an arm and a leg for it. If you take a look at Powder Valley's site, you can get a pretty good idea of what's available and what isn't.

Thanks, Shaolin, for quite some time Winchester Large pistol Primers have been very hard to get other than on-line, and then with quite a wait. I just stocked up on those a while back as I got tired of looking everywhere and finding nothing. I ordered either 10K or 15K a while back, took me almost 7 or 8 weeks to get them. Now I don't have to worry about primers for a while. BTW: .45 auto reloaders, what's the best lead 185 grain or 200 grain semi wad cutter for reloading? I see prices on line from about $40 or so per thousand to about $100 per thousand. Big variation. I am just now running out of ones that I bought at ponoma years back from Western Nevada Bullet Company, which is not X-Treme bullet company. Now days very pricey.

I personally like low velocity, low grain .45acp rounds. Doesnt go through interior walls and works well with how my gun is currently set up
