Default Cheap roadster

So I have been talking with my buddy about a good Cheap roadster. I was looking for something thats 5 to 10 grand or will be around that price in 2 year, It doesnt need to be fast thats what the v is for

What i have already thought about

C3 vetts
Sky/Solstice
some hot rod (32' duce)
z3

So what do you guys think?

When I think Roadster I think smallish. C3s are NOT small.

What about a Miata? They are great little cars and if you don't care about anyone thinking you're gay, fit the bill pretty damn good.

I've driven a Z3 and they're definitely cool, but working on them/upgrading ain't gonna be cheap.

I'm not sure any good condition Sky/Solstice is going to be available in that range, but maybe. You have several problems there. They're not that old, are desirable, and aren't made anymore. If a good condition example fell in that range, I'd probably go that route.

Hot Rods are in a whole different category than the above in my opinion.

If youre considering vettes, why not a C4? Its a solid car, with phenomenal cornering ability. Hell, C5 verts will be close to that price in a couple years. I agree though, when i think roadster i think something smaller. S2k maybe, if the price is right? Ive driven a miata ( got one free as a rental when the cobra was in for service ) and it may have been the most fun slow car ive ever been in. Treated the gas pedal like an on/off switch and paddle shifted the thing at redline for four days. Was a hoot.

These are more than $10k, but not astronomically more. They'd fun too.

Porsche Spyder Kit (like the one that killed James dean). I think all new and complete about $20k

Factory Five Racing MkIV. "Complete" Kit is $20k, you supply driveline. BUT, if you looked around you might be able to find someone who got in over their head and wants out. That's if you don't mind turning some serious wrench yourself.

An MkIV or even better for me, though a Couple, a Type 65 with the new Coyote Motor would be .

Ive thought about that before too. To my knowledge, nobody does. I'm guessing because of design licensing issues. As it is FFR and Carol Shelby have been in court many times.
