Default Anybody in North OC have a code reader?

I have a buddy that failed smog because he has an SES light on. Unfortunately, they wouldn't tell him what it's for. Does anyone have a scanner we could use to check the code? Thanks

I believe they can't do it anymore - it's illegal now.

Probably liability of failing parts told to be accurate by using their code reader.

I'm not positive, but I'm fairly certain it has to do with Smog Checks and people just clearing codes before going in. The light is part of the visual and it's an automatic denial if it's on.
