Default The Golden age of horsepower is now.

It's amazing how much relatively cheap hp is available/will be available in the next couple years.

-556hp Camaro Z28
-550hp Mustang GT500
-480+hp Challenger SRT8
-450hp Boss 302 Mustang
-429hp Hyundai Genesis Coupe 5.0
-426hp Camaro SS
-412hp Mustang GT
-375hp Challenger R/T
-312hp Camaro RS
-306hp Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8
-305hp Mustang V6

And that's just 2+2 Coupes. That's not even taking into account stuff like the Evos, STi's, BMW TT cars, etc. The slowest car on that list is a low 14 second car!

Not only that, but for less than 25k you can pick up a used:

-469hp 04-05 E55 AMG
-405hp 02-04 Z06 Vette
-400hp 04-06 Cadillac CTS-V
-400hp 05-06 Pontiac GTO
-390hp 03-04 Cobra
-300hp 06+ BMW 335i

The slowest car on that list runs mid 13's and the quickest is in low to mid 12's.

And also, for less than 15k you could pick up a really nice used LS1 F-body (WS.6, SS, or Z28) and run mid to low 13's stock all day long. With all the impending CAFE legislation it will have to stop at some point, but I would say it's been the best 10 year period for affordable, fast cars ever.

Me too. What's really impressive are the HO V6s. Those are very affordable brand new cars and are capable of both performance and mileage.

Yah, but in 10 years when the only new vehicles are electric or hybrids these cars are going to be more expensive than they are now.

There's also the 04 GTO with 350hp and the 05-06s with 400hp for under $25k now. You can get modded ones for under $20k now.

Boost, because sometimes atmospheric pressure just isn't enough.

I'm not so sure. I think some of the electic cars that will come out will be pretty badass. Having all torque immediately is pretty cool

It's really difficult to say. The last time we had a huge horsepower crash, I don't believe values on old cars went up. I remember a relative had a 70 Chevelle SS 396 and could only get 2k for it in 83. It took 25 years plus for the muscle cars from the 60's to really start go go up in value.

I know. The new Mustang V6 runs 13.7! I remember when I got my LS1 Camaro SS in 2000, a 13.7 was considered relatively quick for a V8 pony car.

I'll miss the sound, which is a BIG part of what I love about cars. But, there will certainly be some very sporting electric and hybrid cars in the future. The upcoming Porsche (slightly out of my pay grade though) looks like it'll be a fantastic performer. When will the good performance value electric cars come around? Pretty quickly I'd imagine. There's always a market for fun, unless that nannies really take over.

I'd sure drive a hybrid like this:

The 918 is one bad car.

Agreed - that 918 is pure win (except for the rims ).
