Rim Repair
Looking for a general agreement on whether or not this rim might be able to be repaired... srtforums seems to think so but I'm going to refer to you folks.
he's offering a killer deal and only this one tire needs to be replaced and only this 1 rim needs to be repaired. they look ugly from that angle tho so don't hate.
so you don't have to hate... these would eventually be painted/powder coated black or gunmetal.
might even take a straight trade for stock wheels

ok thanks for the input, Paul, sent them an email regarding cost. it totally doesn't look that bad at all. he's looking at a straight trade for stock rims with 3 tires having awesome tread. Kinda hard to pass up, would have to buy 1 new tire and fix the rim.

Hahahahahahahahaha. So funny that you called me out, I was just thinking you could take a body hammer and knock that edge back out. We fixed my friends Toyota 4x4 rims that way. And that dent is on the back so who cares what it looks like? Ben has the tool I'm thinking of. Go do some work on the snake and bring your rim over there and knock it out.
But it doesn't even look that bad, I would think it would seal with that little dent and you could just run it as is.
If sealing is still a problem there is this black goo that you can put around the bead before you mount the tire that will seal it also.
I'm thinking of a tool that looks sort of like the third one down. I used that on the snake to take out a dent above the left tail light, no filler required after I hit it out. Just place it on the inside of the lip in the center, hit it with a hammer and work your way out.

thanks enkei, I'm digging the silver as well so I'm going to leave them the way it is. imma try to hammer it out myself first I think, worst case scenario is I still gotta fix it lol.
Got them for a steal. Straight trade with 3 good tires for my stockers with 3 ok tires.

also enkei, i'm pretty sure the actual lip itself won't be too difficult to knock back in a bit, what about the actual section of the week that seems to have lost a little bit of curvature? i'm trying to think of a way i could position the wheel to strike that without bending other parts of it. any suggestions on how to go about it? i could always just lay it down and hit it with a mallet... that'd be too easy. i have a 50 lb sledge that might work nicely, not at full swing tho of course. just need something with enough weight/mass to carry some momentum in order to transfer the appropriate amount of energy into the wheel. once that is taken care of I'll be doing a full suspension overhaul to adjust all 4 corners and get it sitting PERFECTLY.

Don't hit it with a mallet it. Use the body hammer tool and hit that with the mallet. If you hit it too hard with a hammer you'll fuck up the mounting surface and it won't seal. Borrow Ben's tool. Trust me on this. Hitting the lip itself might pull the rest of the rim back into place. If not, there is another tool that you can place on the wheel to hit with the mallet. Looks like this. (center left)
