Default My '99 F-150

So my power door locks have been working sporadically for years now and now my horn died. I need to replace some stuff on the truck and before I do I thought I would get some thoughts from you guys.

1. Door Locks: It sounds like the actuators want to lock the door but most of the time do not. I am thinking it is the actuator. Could this be anything else?

2. Horn: I have dealt with the girliest sounding horn ever since I bought this truck. I think that the previous owner had the low tone one die and ended up replacing it with a high tone, so I have 2 high tones. I have been looking for a replacement horn since it died and have seen some horns at the 125db range and am not sure if that is too loud. I want a horn that has a nice deep tone so when I honk at someone the sounds matches the truck. Anyone have any recommendations?

3. Heater/AC: I notice the other day that the heater was only blowing from the vents and a little from the floor no matter what setting I selected. What would be causing that?

Thanks.

125db is probably a lie or measured at very close distance. That's the threshold of where physical pain begins.

# 1 : Most common failure is actuators .

# 2 : We had a 94 Cadi in the shop last week....I am gonna look for those
horns next time I hit pick apart. Nice deep sound.
I have those stupid high pitch air horns on my car.....hate em.
Tried to get this to work, but the clifford alarm pump wont flow enough air
to make it work.

#3 : poss vacuum line broken? Most are designed to default to defrost mode
with loss of vacuum though.

Saw that too and it is not happening. My alarm chirps my horn and that would be annoying.

Ford door lock actuators seem to last about 60k miles.

Horns, a buddy has electric air horns on his van and a toggle switch so he doesn't have to hold the button down. LOL

Well spend 5 hours working on the truck today.

1. New passenger side mirror
2. New door lock actuators
3. Painted old driver side mirror
4. New manly horns

The actuators were a pain in the ass. The first door took about 3.5 hours and the second about 30 mins. My hands do not fit inside doors very well. My Hayes manual did not have the most detailed instructions for removing the locking mechanism so I had to figure out how to get the crap off. Love the fact that I no longer have to use my key. The door locks had pretty much not worked for 3 years now. Also installed my more manly horn! I did not want the mirrors to have the white accent piece anymore so I used spray on bedliner so that the texture would be close the rest of the mirror. Very happy with how those turned out.

Next up... refreshing the front suspension and installing the 3" A-Arm lift I have had for 10 years now.

Stock

New
