I bought one of those stethoscopes to track the tick tick, can't find it. Don't hear anything peculiar holding over the rockers... so? I don't know, guess it's an exhaust leak. Anyone want to come over and lend an ear? I sure as hell can't find where it's coming from. My car is so freaking loud its hard to track one specific noise down.
The car has a rough spot in the low rpm band. I'm worried that it could have to do with the tick, lifter adjustment? HG? Intake leak? But I do have lower compression and a lot more lift, and my fuel level is way low for some reason all of a sudden. So I'll spend some time tuning it before I draw any radical conclusions.
Another strange thing that I noticed, the idle comes down slowly. It's never done that before. What does that indicate? Anyone know? Glenn?

Fuel level low--in the carb? Adjusting float level doesn't help?
Ticking sound can be many different things. I would need to listen to it. Exhaust leaks -headers- are the most common.
Slow return to idle is usually --1) a vacuum leak 2) the mechanical advance is sticking and not returning to "0" in the dizzy 3) butterflys in carb binding before they close. This is just off the top of my head at this time.
