I already talked to Phil. He was on a road test at the time but said he would talk to Paul who runs the body shop once hw got back. I think they will want the whole car to color match it but you can ask Phil.

Doesn't really matter to me. Just whatever is easiest. It's just an idea at the moment to make the car more presentable for a few years. Depends on cost. Don't think I'd go beyond $500 for the panel and bumper. Otherwise just live with it. I grew up red neck so it doesn't really bother me that much. But if the price is right.

I will do it for $500.00 or less but I do need the whole car, We will also shoot both roof panels. I do not currently have a ton of paint work in the shop so next week would be good if you are ready. We will prep., primer and paint. Yes it will require a flex additive in the paint on the bumper.

Awesome Phil! Let me sleep on it and talk to the boss. But I'm strongly leaning in favor. At that price maybe I can point out a couple little nicks that can get a dab for a touch extra, but even if it's just the roof and bumper, that'd go a long way to betterness.

As far as I can remember, a color match isn't done by matching the paint to the body and spraying the bumper. It's done by spraying the bumper white and fading into the body. Which means spraying the rest of your car, at least the front.

Which means, the new paint won't like your old paint and will probably turn to shit in 5 years.

Plastic bumpers don't need to be primed if I remember correctly. You can prime them. The additive is just something that mixes in the paint. Paint itself is really flexible, so if it's cracking it's prob your bumper, not the paint.

On deeper thinking I'm gonna hold on this and use what limited play money I have on the project car. I'll come back to painting the Vette later and do it completely at one time. Thank you for your time and info.

Ok, yes blending is better, but blending a vette is basically painting one end or the other. Yes the paint can be matched to very satisfactory level ( aka panel painting ) Usually bumpers did not match from the factory all that well if You are anal. Flex is a additive, very's from system to system. If You have bare plastic showing thats where the work comes in. Used to repaint alot of Vette bumpers for dealerships because of color match problems from the factory. Post # 9
