The BIG surprise for those of you with kids will come on your California return. For TY 2009 the dependent exemption has been slashed from $309 per dependent in TY 2008 to $98. That's right, a bottom line tax increase of $211 for EVERY dependent on your return. Betcha didn't hear about THAT thru the media. I've already prepared 5 families that would have received a small state refund in '09 but somehow have to come up with $500+ to pay the state this yearor

I would do my taxes but I'm still waiting on one of my w2's (had 3 jobs last year and 4 weeks of unemployment) but it looks like i will get about 500 from the fed and owe the state 150

Yah im soo glad I work 10 hrs a day to take home half of what im owed and the other half goes to supporting causes that I dont support.

on a lighter note. Souldn't each car you own count as a dependant?....expecialy if its an american car .

if you think about it...cars have to eat, get new shoes (tires), Take showers, see the doctor...ect. Besides cars generate steady income for the state via registration and undeserved tickets.
