Default Rear coilovers

I just got a set of rear coilovers for my car. I have the ability to set the shocks at 50/50, 40/60, or 30/70. Where do you think I should start?

What was the old spring rate and what is the new? What shocks were you running before? Did you have wheel hop before? I have Competition Engineering shocks on the back of the Chevelle and I started out with them set at 60/40 before I used the nitrous. The first time I ran on a 150 shot it lifted the front tire about 6 inches and the rear passenger side squatted and hit the bump stop. It headed toward the wall and carried the wheel until I hit second. After that I firmed them up to 50/50 and added a rear sway bar.

If your new springs are firmer than your old ones I'd start with the softest setting and then go from there. The only way you're going to know is by testing them at different settings and see how it affects your 60ft.

30/70 is most common for street vehicles.

Back in the day......I have used 90/10 in the front.

70/30 is the softest setting but it may be too soft when at the track. He has a stick so he doesn't want too much squat in the rear or else it will bounce the rear tires and make them lose traction.

I guess it doesn't really matter what setting he starts with because he'll need to try them all at the track and see what one the car likes.

The spring rate of the current springs are 140. The coilovers are 150. These coilovers use a Competition Engineering 3-way shock. The softest setting is 30/70. That seems pretty soft. Maybe I'll start at 40/60.
