Not sure what they're referring to as "toxins" which is one of those kind of vague words everyone thinks they know what it means.
However, human urine, if used about 10:1 watered down makes a very good, gentle natural fertilizer for plants. The nitrogen is very bio-available and it contains some phosphorus which is relatively scarce in the soil, but necessary for healthy plants. You have to use it within 24 hours though as the nitrogen will transform to ammonia, which is not so good for plants.
If you're looking for WTF on human waste, you can also use feces for fertilizer. HOWEVER, unlike urine which can be used immediately, human "manure" has to be composted for a minimum of one year to guarantee pathogens like e-coli are gone, and that the materials are decomposed into more basic forms plants can use. Seems strange to us now, but it was common throughout history, especially in asia, but also the Greeks and is still used after processing from sewage plants right now in the good ole USA.
