Default Archery

I went to Oranco off the 71 with a friend about a week ago. Man it was fun. I mostly just shot his old compound bow. He brought some friends that have ridiculously technical compound bows: peep sites threw the strings, arrow rest release, etc. etc. My first day shooting ever, in fact my first time shooting his bow, I nailed a bullseye. It wasn't hard because of how good the bow was, just line it up and pull the release. I could see me getting into archery, but it wouldn't be the technical bows, it would be a simple recurve, no pins or nothing, just developing a sense for instinctual shooting. That could prove a worthy challenge.

I still have my compound bow from when I when 13. My dad and I use to go deer hunting every year until I was about 24. I was a great shot at the range but I never hit a deer.

I remember watching archers in Japan hitting wood squares while on a horse at full gallop.
This past spring, I helped with a work party of Freemasons and Job's Daughters (youth group) converted an existing archery range at the Long Beach VA with ramps for wheelchair access.

Before and after pics and video.

I remember asking my gym teacher if I could bring in my compound bow and use that instead of the recurves they had.

Was putting arrows through the target bales at 75 yards and scaring the track guys throwing discus.

He asked me to take it home and not bring it back.

The bow my friend's pals brought was at well over 300FPS. At 60 yards, he could almost use a flat trajectory to hit the target.
