I have a hard time swallowing the idea that Subaru will field a RWD car. I can see the AWD Subie and the 2WD Toyota. That is why I think the Toyota would be better.

That is definitely possible. I thought I read somewhere though that it would be difficult to fit the AWD system into that chasis?

This is a potential sticking point. The platform does not seem well suited to Subie's AWD but that's their trademark. . . These companies also don't totally trust each other and are a little hesitant to share core technology, especially Subaru with Toyota (Fuji Heavy Industries).
As for me, systematically speaking, I'd probably prefer the lighter RWD Toyota as a car. Stylistically I could probably go either way.

Yeah, if one is RWD and one is AWD, I'd probably opt for the RWD one depending on what the weight difference was.

Not only the wieght, but the drivetrain losses. ALso does this car make enough power to warrant AWD? |

Not really in stock form (200-250  ) but if the STi base engine in a year or so it certainly *could*.

Wow, I didn't think the 2.0 or the 2.5 made 200hp N/A. The WRX only had 227 originaly.  |

Going on memory, I *think* that's what the new DI NA Boxer 2.5s will come in around. Have to check, I might be confusing engines. . .
