Default 09' R1 Technology

Cool video. This thing seems loaded with some very cutting edge goodies. Think I'll stick to the B12 for a while.

Nope im not impressed with the 09 R1 the feartures they have already exist on the Suzuki's starting in 06 and now the 08 GSXR600 have the same features which yamaha did not put on there 600's, so I really dont see any gain yamaha is goin to get out of this all they did was change the name of what suzuki has already produced and been using for 3 years.

Susuzki has had the uneven firing order, variable length intakes, and dedicated compression/rebound shocks?

The GSXR does not use uneven firing order, but it does have variable intakes and compression rebound shocks. On top of that it uses an electric solunoid sterring dampner. The whole mode switch that yamaha supposed is all new has been used since 06 on the liter bikes and is now used on all GSXR's in 08. Now what willl be very intresting is the 09 GSXR1000 it is suppose to have all the features as the 09 yammy plus more, so i guess we will see, cant wait.

Cool. My understanding of the shocks was that one shock was dedicated to compression and the other was dedicated to rebound, as in GP I guess. Technically this helps with fluid cavitation in the shock valves as I understood it.

Let's keep our eyes open for a Y vs. S liter bike shootout. I kind of like the new R1 design.

heypal, somewhat unwisely, let me ride his 08 GSXR1000. I have to admit, it's amazing how solid that thing feels. I love my big ole dumb bandit, but it's very loosey goosey in comparison. I don't think I'd ever want to put in the miles you and nordy racer do on the streets, or do any stunting, but I could definitely see myself getting a liter bike for track duty and getting into it a bit. The cost value for performance is insane.
