Cant borrow the scan tools anymore in Cali. You can pick them up for ~$100-200 tho.

Never heard of anyone having to disable the ABS to bleed the brakes before? If anything did need to be disabled couldn't you just pull a fuse or disconnect the battery?

You are not disabling it. You have to activate the abs pump and valves in the unit to bleed it. Most cheap code readers do not have abs funtion tests.
Our scan tool cost 5 grand new, and did not have ABS module as standard equipment. It was a 800 buck option. ( That is why my boss won't let me borrow it )The tests are make and model specific.
