There was a woman in her 80s not long ago (former Mrs. America I think) who shot intruders. She literally propped up her firing arm on her walker to stabilize the shot. My kinda lady.

You're privileged to use reasonable force to protect yourself from battery. In her case the pan was definitely reasonable. Unless it's Texas, in Texas you can blow someones ass off with a shotgun as they are trying to run away with your lawn ornament and get off scott free.
