I just took a look at the one for the SBC and it looks the same so I have a feeling it's just to clear the oil pan.

He said he'd give them to us if he could make one pass. He's driven several 11 second cars, including his own V8 RX-7 and a fairly aggressive STi. Seems reasonable to me.
