Default Car Forums / Truck Gas Mileage

It's kind of hilarious the level of stupidity prevalent in car forums. Ive been looking for a low price truck for my Dad, that will get the best gas mileage possible, but large enough to accommodate a 270 lb guy and haul a 5th wheel. So Ive been reading through gas mileage threads... wow. So many avid posters out there have just absolutely no technical knowledge or even common-sense when it comes to cars.

Just read through a long Tacoma thread where they philosophize about a larger tire size throwing your odometer off. Hmm... if only there were some way to objectively calculate that...

Oh!!! I know!!! Math!!! ...ow, my brain hurts now.

Yes, simple math but it's a pain to try and remember how far off it is at each MPH. It's better to just get a programmer and correct it but that also cost money. The Explorer is off with the 33's but I'm also running 4.56 gears so it reads faster than what I'm going.

As for pulling a 5th wheel and getting decent mileage you need to look at diesels.

What is lower price? Caution is required because they are expensive to work on, but diesel all the way if you can find one in your range.
