I had to buy some new tires for the Explorer because the old ones were down to the wear bars. So I ran the Silverwood trail today to see how well they worked. They work great! Here's some pictures of the Explorer showing it's flex. Not bad for a home built SAS with home made springs. Sorry for the poor quality but I had to use my phone.
Im keeping my sas really simple right now just leafs front and rear....But you sure do get a lot of flex from that coil mmmmm
No coils, I used leaf springs as well to keep it cheap. The fronts are made from the stock front and rear packs from a Wrangler with one leaf from an F150. The rears are made up of a combo of F150 and FJ40 packs.
Nice. My rears are 54 inches long and I don't remember how long the fronts are but I think they were like 48. I'd like to do the longer rear leafs on the rear but I'm not sure it's worth it. I'll have some Deaver's or Nationals made before I go to a long leaf though.
It will be a lot less to go with custom built leafs then it will to change everything over to run a coil and I wouldn't go with a coil but instead would go coilover.
They are 33x12.5x15 and they rub just a little at full turn when the truck is flexed that much.
