Question Shop Reccomendation

I need to have the 8.8 in the mustang gone through and need a shop in OC. Any recommendations?

Note: I am in Laguna Hills so a shop close to me would be preferred but not necessary.

Leo at Remac is the only place I would go to. San Dimas.

What do mean "gone through"? Across Ortega from you in Lake Elsinore is ls1z28, who did the bulk of the work on my Vette, and other cars, including an engine swap in basically a day. He is very detailed. More of a Chevy than Ford guy I suppose, but sort of an encyclopedia and kind of on his own level for fast. He would be less expensive than any shop depending on what you needed.

I just need the carrier pulled and everything checked to see exactly why the backlash is off. Hoping it is just a shim issue or maybe a bad bearing.

I might be needing transmission work done on my wife's 97 Thunderbird 4.6.
Someone in Central Orange County would be great.

The problem is that its an 8.8. Those seem to have issues a lot. Just like the GM 10 bolts. Go dana 60, Ford 9, Chevy 12 or 14, or go home.

The 8.8 is a great rear end, I have never had issues with any, still in use today by ford.

That is what I know too. When I bought my truck the idiot salesman said the hash 1/2 shift was the rear end because Ford is know to have problems with them. It had nothing to do with the transmission needing to be replaced. I wanted to turn around and tell him he was an idiot but I decided not to.

I would have told him, Lots of people like me.

Anywho, if you feel like tackling it yourself its painfully easy to remove the carrier on an 8.8
http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...backlash.shtml

Backlash issues are commonly not enough preload on the shims. If you aren't blasting them with a sledge hammer when they go in, it's usually not enough.

So your thread is about an 8.8 with issues, but you think they don't have issues?

That's true love for a brand right there
