Just a thought.

What about those other guys (Mike, Matt) for the track? In any event, Sean is still coming out to take some videos and do some promotion. We'll have to work that out too. As for me, I'm definitely running, but at least my first pass or so, I'll be a little timid until I'm confident things are solid after my last experience.

BTW, (sorry I don't know), is the TB a body on frame or a unibody?
Go over to a 4 speed? What do you think a 2004R is? Honestly I would prefer to stick with the 200, Neal and Morgan swear that it is just as strong as the 700 and when it breaks it's always the same (fairly cheap) part. A rebuild kit for my car is pretty cheap and Mike has offered at some point to help me rebuild the whole thing, for an all but fair price of a BJ a day courtesy of Sean Plunkett . The car is a frame on car by the way Ben, and I called Mike and I spoke with Matt about it briefly but will try to get a more difinitive answer from both. I'm hoping Mike decides to come as I don't know how extremely comfortable Morgan will be being the only one knowing whats going on as neither you or I have done it before. We'll have to play it by ear though.

Sorry, had 3spd on the mind for some reason. Check Paul for the Price. You might be surprised. Also, the Toy Shop in Pomona builds up 700R4s with some Diesel Truck parts to the point where they hold more power then you will ever put through them.

I know what a body-on-frame is and I know what a unibody is; what's a frame on car?

I'm sure if we're nice to Mike he can make it out.

Thanks for the catch on the date display. We'll fix it by shortly.

Sorry mis-typed it is a body on frame car. Maybe I will talk to Paul, see what the price would be than how much a swap would be and also I need to check gear ratio differences....yikes! I dunno if the 3.42 gears would work well with the 700 or not? I'm not super concerned with breaking the tranny seems most of the guys are cool down in the deep 12's which I won't be for quite some time. I'll tell you though with the new injectors my fuel system is done! Which means more air time, turbos are coming up for sale and I think in june it'll be new turbo time. Morgan has the combo I'm shooting for, he said his trans is slipping pretty bad but he also does have over 210k miles! He won't be making a pass until he gets the trans squared away but I'll tell you I bet that thing could give you and Sean a run for your money with 205 white wall tires! I think Saturday I might change the oil real quick too really make sure its all ready to go!

That's a hell of a mis-type hippie. Anyway, see attachment. It's one of the most useful spreadsheets I have. Gearbox B is currently set for a 700R4. You can dial in your tires, axle ratios and gearboxes to get a clear comparison picture of mph at rpms under different scenarios. Your pa has Excel if you don't.

This is important in all performance cars, but it's particularly important to match the spooling characteristics of your turbo. At least that's what I read once. You'll have to talk to the experts on that one. See attached.

I'll have to F around with that, looks pretty bitchin'. I spoke with Mike last night and he informed me he would be stopping by for a while but has a prior engagement and will be leaving early. Still very stoked as I told him I think with him and Morgan's expertise they can affirm "yes that does go there" or "yeah I think that's right" as I know Morgan hasn't done valve springs in quite some time, altough he is a f'ing buick guru... Anyway everything looks a go I have to pass smog saturday and I don't know time wise how this is all going to work out guess we'll see sat....god I hope it passes

Geez, what a project that turned out to be. It was really interesting though and the Buick is going to be a beast with the bigger injectors and chip. Thanks to everyone for helping

Thumbs up Buick weekend: The aftermath

First off My thanks go out again and again and again to everyone! Names to thank range from Ben, Mike, Adam, Morgan, Sean, and Steve. You guys I can't possibly express my gratitude to all of you, the amount of hardwork and dedication that went into this weekend is truly amazing. After I left I went straight to Morgan's and swapped out the broken Wastegate selenoid and fixed the iffy alcohol connection! We also cleaned and detailed my motor which made this weekend that much more successful. I am going to do my damndest to get those injectors in by friday night and pass smog and take off the cat. I also am planning on putting on a K&N filter on....Swing for the fences right Ben? Anyway, thats the plan I will keep everyone updated through out the week!

Thanks again to everyone!
Brian

Anything less would be un-American. Plus I really want to see you get as close as possible to SeanPlunk's time in the Cobra. Which I think is very reasonable.

Basically you did 14.7 in a totally stock TB (at a shit track).

Since then you'll have at least:
  • new valve springs (which might net you quite a bit in the upper RPM considering how tired your old ones were)
  • methanol injection (allowing a little higher boost on stock injectors)
  • gutted cat (polluting the environment . . .)
  • motor tie-down (channeling more energy to the driveline)

and quite possibly
  • new injectors (w/meth allowing more boost)
  • chip and tune

I really think this could get you the 1.2 sec you need. As long as you don't beat me that's great.
