Good. It can wait til the next time you have to get it normally smog checked. Everyone should tell them to go pound sand and they can sit there and twiddle their thumbs all day. Then it has no meaning whatsoever and the program can be terminated.

I guess that depends on who "them" are. I had cops thump on me enough in my younger years. Pretty much, now I say, "Yes, sir", "No, Sir". It kinda works for me. They haven't kicked my ass in over 20 years now.

HP numbers are good and all, but they are like asking someone how much they can bench. What difference does it make if I can still kick your ass?

Well, Joe, I might need to know a bit more about why they were thumping on you before I could make a blanket anti-government statement. . .

But in general, that's how obedience works. . . threat of violence against your person, property, and wealth. All of the state is constructed on this basis.

I didn't say I wouldn't take them on legally. But in a courtroom, not out in a situation where someone has to "prove" their dominance. I might challenge a cop, but if he tells me I have to do something, I'm gonna do it. Later I can take him to court.

A good choice. I guess my point is simply that far too many people grumble about being mistreated, but just take it and keep grumbling. I suggest resisting (intelligently). Picking a fight with a cop, not so bright.

I just went through my " training " course. " add on cold air intakes, exhaust temp sensors are not subject to CARB stickers, but is a clue that the vehicle may be modified further and you should pay close attention for programmers and mods that are illegal " Paraphrased a little, but you get the point.
I took mine as well. Tough quiz at the end.

Gold Shield stations are just everyday test and repair smog test facilities that have signed up and been approved to do smog inspections on "test Only" cars and "gross Polluters". They have to meet certain criteria to be eligible, such as having an equal or higher smog inspection failure rate than "test Only" centers in there area.

I was referring to refusal to submit to a road side test.

From everything I have read they do not do dyno testing on the side of the road. If you drive up an on ramp where they are set up and they pick-up excessive emissions, a picture is taken of your plate and you are mailed a letter requesting you to go to a Gold Shield station for and inspection. If you fail to do so in the time frame allowed then your registration through DMV is suspended until you do.

I see. I had thought you were pulled over and submitted to testing. I wonder about the accuracy of a sniffer just out in the atmosphere. Do you have to pay for the Gold Shield station check under this regime? I'd also be curious about the stats of those requested to test on suspicion vs. pass/fail from the controlled test.
