On another note, some times coolant hose rupture can be cool. I was drag racing, closed course, professional driver, and my heater hose ruptured. Sprayed coolant on the pass header at the top of a WOT run, left a 20 foot cloud of coolant steam about a mile long. Totally tits.

Maybe air is bring pushed in from the HG. It would explain the air and no coolant leak.
