What was that movie where Burt Reynolds was the stuntman...he drove a red firebird...... oh...and speaking of Burt: Stroker Ace was a "nascar" flick. I know it doesn't count, but in Mr Deeds, Deeds bought the whole town C5 convertables at the end of the flick:"Damn..these things are fast....***zoooommmmmmm*** CRASH!!... it's ok...I'm fine" lol

I'll add Stroker Ace and I think the other Burt movie must be Hooper; added. I just saw Mr. Deeds the other day, but I don't think it makes the cut here .

Cars was in there already.
I added "Days of Thunder" (how could I forget), "Vanishing Point", which I didn't know about at all, and the "World's Fastest Indian" (a great movie in my opinion). I also remembered a great old suspense movie, "The Car". "XXX" doesn't quite cut it for this list and I'm on the fence about "American Graffiti". What do you guys think?

Not sure. But now that you mention I think one of the early movies done by Spielberg was something like a trucker running people down. I'll have to go look it up.

Duel is the one I was thinking of.
These are borderline. I'll have to think about them.

Steve McQueen, motor movie god
1- The motorcycle jump at the end of "the Great Escape".
2- 68 GT 390 airborn in "Bullitt" during the best chase scene ever filmed. No computer generated crap or special effects, just pure Detroit muscle car. For you Mopar guys, yea the Charger R/T 440 would eat the 'stang's lunch in the real world.
3- My favorite, the pure gut wrenching force-of-nature primal roar of the Porche 917 in "Le Mans". Of any car, street or track, the 917 is the car I'd most like to drive, assuming that I could work up the nad to actually get in the beast.
