Default Wilwood brakes and BC Coil overs for my Pontiac

I installed the coil overs a while ago and Haddad Motorsports did the brakes just the other day.

Here’s the suspension kit.



Old stuff on the left.



My associate.



Passenger side done.



Drivers rear. (Not a great shot but what the hell)



Front brakes before.



Front brakes after.



Rear brakes before.



Part of the process required for the rear brakes involves cutting the dust shields. What a pain.

Nice. So how does it feel with the coilovers and new brakes? What size are the new rotors and what size were the old ones?

Sorry Ron I had to go out to the garage to measure. The old stock rotors are: 12.5” front, and 11” rear. The Wilwood stuff is: 13.06” front, and 12.19” rear. They offer another kit with larger rotors but that one forces me to use at least 18” wheels. I have some (they’re on the car now) but I wanted the option to use my stock 17” wheels also. Plus, the stock calipers are only four piston semi-floating in the front and two piston for the rear.

Even on the softest compression setting the coil overs are much stiffer than the stock suspension; but that’s what I was after. Because the settings for the compression and rebound are separate, I find myself continually adjusting them. I’m getting there though.

Very nice Jon. I want to go Coil-over but I really do not want a stiffer ride then I already have. I want to be able to adjust the ride weight though. I want about .5" or more ground clearance.

Adam, you can change the springs on the coilovers to a softer one if they are too stiff.

What did you do with your old brake setup? If you Goat is an 04, I'll take them off your hands.

True. BC (the company that makes the kit) suggests stiffer spring rates if you’re supercharged, for example. This made sense to me at first until I started driving the car. I thought it was too stiff so I ordered some softer springs and put them on the front only; big difference. The height adjustability for coil overs is also a big plus but it can be a pain as well. When I thought I had it just right, I’d change my mind. Either that or the suspension would settle & I’d have to raise it a little. Oh well. I still wouldn’t change back.

I still have the stock brakes but I’ve got a 2006.

Damn, the 04's will bolt right up to my Typhoon. I actually liked the stock brakes, they sure took a beating at GMR several times. Your brakes and suspension is what I wanted to do with mine when I had it. Looks great.
