Default Track Day Insurance

I have a buddy with a new Camaro and he was wondering if there was anything like Catastrophic rider coverage for a track day? I've never heard of any such thing, but there's insurance for almost anything so I wouldn't be surprised either. Anyone know about this? Carlos?

Ben,
Yes there are several insurance companies that will provide coverage. Lockton motorsports is one that I have seen used and I am planning on using. It's all based on an agreed upon value of the vehicle. for the vette it's $269 per event to ~$1600 for 15 events based on an agreed upon $40K value. Look at grassrootsmotorsports.com and nasaproracing.com for different options.

That is pretty reasonable actually when you think about the risk of damage in a race.

I imagine it's just a buyout in case of totalling. That actuarial sort of intuitively makes sense to me. But other lighter damage, broken rims, wrecked paint, blown engine/trans, etc., you're on your own I'd think. But yeah not bad especially if we're talking about a track only car where that's its only insurance cost.
