Head Studs and EGR Delete
Check this fucking bullshit out. I want to get head studs new gaskets for my 6.0 in preparation for some power mods that I have planned. I have been calling around and I have been qouted $5,800 first then $7,800-$10,500. For fucking head studs. They advertise some extra shit like making sure the head is true, a valve job, replacement oil cooler, and new egr valve. Fuck this. I was expecting $3,500.

Why not do it yourself? Most local shops are all going to quote you numbers like that since 90% of them pull the cab.

I may do it myself. It's just a bit of a challenge due to lack of space. I will have some time off soon anyways. How much would you machinists charge for a valve job, checking the head flat and fire ring grooves?

I dont think he does fire rings anymore. Too many issues. Besides i dont know many people who actually need fire rings since typically they cause issues below 90psi

That's fine the truck is ok. It doesn't have any problems with the heads. I plan on bolt ons and big turbo, but I wanted the head studs first. I wasn't expecting 5-10k. I will just roll it stock and focus on the vette.

Did you think you needed anything beyond stock?

The stock head bolts are torque to yield and will stretch if pressed pass factory levels. As far as needing anything more than stock. Basically yes, remember who is posting.

I meant, like objectively need more power to pull something extra heavy up hills or something like that. Not like, "I really need this bottle of Tequilla right now!" kind of need.

No it doesn't need more power for towing. My friend from high school had me move his 35' double slide out fifth wheel from Newport Beach to Mesa Az. It was full of water and weighed 15,300 dry. We bolted 90mph the entire way no issues. Really it's more for the day to day grind.
