Old Rim advice
If you guys remember I broke two of the factory c6 front rims on my car. both failures were due to pre-existing hairline fractures. I caught one before it separated and the other one caused $5k worth of damage.
GM didn't take responsibility because the dealership had the rims chromed after vehicle delivery and that is what weakened the rims.
So my problem is that I now have 4x 19" and 3x 18" c6 rims with tires that I don't really trust for track use. Guys are driving around on these rims everyday with no issue. I'm scared to sell them.
What would you guys do?
I also have a bunch of extra tires:
-2x 18x245 michellene pilot cups
-2x 19x265 michellene pilot cups
-2x 18x245 toyo R888
-2x 19x275 toyo R888

1 - Sell them for a steeply discounted price with FULL DISCLOSURE, and the firm recommendation that these are cruising rims only. There may be buyers interested and so long as you're not deceiving anyone and you have the knowledge that some people roll around on rims like this apparently w/o issue you're ethically clear in my book.
2 - If you just want to be done with it and have not the slightest chance of worry, sell the rims for scrap and the tires separately.

There are. Throttle Crazy has someone he deals with that does rim repair. That's assuming that these even have cracks. I don't see how dipping the rims to crome them can cause the metal to fatigue.

The rims are fine. By fine I mean no visible cracks. They look like any chrome rims on the showroom floor. What GM stated to my insurance company was that the heat from the chrom
ing process ruins the heat treatment they perform on the rims and thus weakens them.

It my understanding that the chroming process causes the aluminum to become more brittle thus increasing the chance for cracks to develope.

I do know that chrome will cause surface tension on any object it's put on and thus will increase the likely hood of propagation of existing cracks.
