I'm looking for it, but there was an article where all these mythical engines of old were strapped to an engine dyno and measured using modern SAE standards and techniques. The myths got knocked down a notch or two.

The street engines were a big disappointment, because they were choked down. That engine needed to breathe. It needed a cam, exhaust, bigger carb. But Boss 429 equipped cars dominated the 1969 NASCAR season. They won 30 out of 52 races.

HP numbers are good and all, but they are like asking someone how much they can bench. What difference does it make if I can still kick your ass?

That's damn impressive actually. How much do Boss 429 Mustangs go for now? I'd imagine 150k+?

I'm not in touch with the market anymore, but a few years ago, I knew of a few top-of-the-line examples that went for $500K+. I think one even went for $600K.

If it's anything like the other heavyweight muscle cars, they've come WAY down off that lofty peak.

I just saw an ad for one on the Boss 302 website that is an absolutely beautiful Grabber Green version for $300K.

That's rather less than $500-600k. Anybody who bought at that peak as an investment may be waiting a long time for it to get back to that level. So Joe, when you gonna pick it up? Just be sure to steer clear of those pesky loading docks.

Yeah, the cars that went for $500K - $600K were very low-mile, concourse cars. Those are far and few between. I'm not even sure the seller of the $300K will get his asking price. I won't be getting any Boss 429s. I remember when I could afford one at $100K, but couldn't get myself to pull the trigger.
