Default BBC vs. LS

This video pisses me off. This is a comparison between a $9K-12K BBC and LS7 that is easily $25K. Entering argument for an LS7 is 15K and quickly escalates when forged internals and high end valve train components are added. The dual Holley TB set up is easily $4K alone. The baby base kit is $2800.

I didnt watch 9hrs of video but my uncle just had a longblock 440ci LS7 for about $13k from Texas Speed. This is a forged motor with ported heads, a big cam, high compression and top notch valvetrain. I know a stock crate LS7 from GM is like $15K.

I have under $5000 into the longblock of the 454 in the Chevelle. For around $13,000 I could have a 540-598ci BBC crate engine making anywhere between 700-900hp.

Oh I understand. Just saying, $25k for an LS7 setup would be pretty steep. Actually, I can put together a 1000hp LS motor for $13k. My uncle just wanted to use that shop. He still could've saved a lot of money. At least he got a warranty I guess.

My LS3 was $15k and doesn't make BBC power. That Holley setup with one smaller TB and no intake starts at $2800. It just looks like an unfair comparison when transmissions are changed and going from a 3.55 to a 4.56 gear.

A BBC LS7 or a new aluminum FI LS7?

I dont think a low vaccum carb'd setup would have worked for you Carlos. You'd be stalling out all of the time. Plus I think the extra 200 lbs would have noticeably changed the handling of your C6

I was never considering anything for my application other than a light weight LS. I was just critiquing the comparison they made.

I was just referencing BBC crate engines, not something I could build on my own.

I was gonna say, that's what the BBC 572 is straight from the catalog. Power depends on compression selection, which dictates gas AIR.
