The
2013 Volkswagen Beetle Fender Edition was
announced back in May, and with the car hitting dealers soon,
VW has finally released the pricing for the guitar-inspired Bug. There will be two versions of this new model: the Beetle 2.5L Fender Edition starting at $24,440 and the Beetle Turbo Fender Edition going for $28,130. These prices are for manual transmission-equipped models and (*) do not include the $795 destination charge.
To recap, the Fender Edition adds Volkswagen's 400-watt Fender audio system, exclusive instrument panel accents that mimic a guitar and V-Tex leatherette seats with unique cloth accents running down the middle. To spice up the styling even more, these cars also come only in Deep Black Pearl Metallic exterior paint with lots of shiny bits including the "Disc" wheels, brushed chrome mirror caps and even the headlights with the Bi-Xenon lighting with jewel-like LED daytime running lights.
In base form, the Beetle Fender Edition starts with the Beetle 2.5L with Sunroof and adds a $2,145 premium (almost enough that you could afford an
Eric Clapton Fender Stratocaster) while the Beetle Turbo Fender Edition is based on the Beetle Turbo with Sunroof and Sound representing a price increase of $1,735 (a similar price as a
Jim Root Fender Stratocaster). The 2.5L can also be equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission starting at $25,540, and the Turbo can be had with the DSG dual-clutch transmission for $29,200.
