Default Reader Update: Work finally progressing on Porsche's new HQ near Atlanta

Filed under: Performance, Plants/Manufacturing, Porsche, Luxury
It's been almost a year and a half since we first heard word of the plan to move the Porsche US headquarters to a former Ford Taurus plant near the Hartsfield-Atlanta International Airport. In May of 2011, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported the old Ford plant had been demolished and the ground scrubbed clean after decades of heavy industrial use left the earth contaminated. Porsche plans to build new offices as well as a test track on the property.

Now it appears that effort is finally gaining momentum. A local reader laid eyes on this interesting bit of local government. It seems Porsche is already working to change the name of Henry Ford II Avenue in Atlanta to Ferdinand Porsche Avenue. What's more, the German automaker has begun construction of on and off ramps from I-75 as well as the rerouting of a natural gas line in the area.

A spokesperson with Porsche confirmed the company is making progress, and that a ground-breaking ceremony will take place in the very near future. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.Reader Update: Work finally progressing on Porsche's new HQ near Atlanta originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 11 Oct 2012 09:14:00 EST.
