They have a location in Santa Fe Springs and seem to have several ranging from $400 - $850 for 96 and 97. These are complete engines including computer and harness, etc.

Hey thanks. I'll check them out.

I talked to the guy about the engine. I'll probably look at it today.

Thanks for the offer, when R&Ring an engine- the more hands the better. I have a Cherry picker and complete tools so I've got that covered.

The thing Darlene and I have disscussed is wheather the T-bird is worth the effort. She needs a car and it's all paid for. But it is a salvaged vehicle.

The other thing is the money. Buy the engine or pay the rent. Classic issues.

Great to have you there. This SHOULD be a straight forward swap.
Hell, what's more fun than a bunch of FORD guys working on a FORD and talking shit on Chevies.

Hey, wait a second I have/drive a Chevy.

Ok, I went and looked at that 4.6. It's been sitting for 2 years and the trans is still hooked up to it. The real problem is that it has been sitting outside for the last few months and the weather is starting to get to it. Looks like it sat out in the last rain we had.

You know better than I do that if an engine isn't properly stored, you can have some real corrosion problems. The bone yards are better about this, spraying the blocks down with ATF/Kerosine mix creates quite a good barrier to oxidation. The other way to go is to find a salvage TB of the same year, take the engine, and keep the rest for spare parts, or part out over time. Might work too. .

BTW, I'm down for helping when the time comes. With a few sets of hands and game plan, probably could pretty quickly. . .

Thanks for the offer. Don't know what I'm going to to do yet. I'm thinking of going away and hiding for a few months.
