Lol thats what she said. Nah i haven't tried that yet because the car isn't with me riht now. I heard that some people rev up the engine to like 1500 and slowly let out the clutch and it pops in, then do the same to get it out and it fixes itself. I'm going to mess with it when i get it. But either way i found a tranny with 80k miles for 200 bucks so I'm going that route.

And yes you're right it doesn't have a synchro. They said usually when the fifth gear syncro goes out your reverse goes out as well. But all my gears shift fine with no grind whatsoever. So it could just be worn or something. I'm going to figure it out though. Cause it would be nice not to have to fork out cash on something i don't need. Ill keep posted.

When my clutch was worn on my SHO the first symptom to appear was grinding engaging reverse because the gears were still spinning slightly because the clutch was not completely disengaging the transmission from the engine. Shifting into first then reverse helped, but eventually I had to replace the clutch. I still had material left on my clutch the problem was that crud built up on the quill the throw out bearing rides on and cause the clutch cable to stretch enough to keep the throw out bearing from fully depressing the pressure plate. The SHO tranny was made by Mazda.

I second that, try going into first gear, then reverse. Then slowly let up the clutch, shouldn't even need to rev it up. My first trans did that and so does this one.

Try this out before you swap it. New one could be the same way.

So is this just a temporary fix, or is this a sign that the tranny is on the way out? Or is this something that transmissions will do sometimes because i've never run into it before. Also will i need to do that all the time or just every once in a while?
