Have to replace the pads--anything tricky, like the parker brake adjustment???

Nope, it all basic. If you haven't already, I would also pick up the shoes for the emergency brake. Ford uses a shoe on the inside of the rotor for the emergency brake.

My old mustang rear brake had to be compressed and turned at the same time so the old c clamp didn't work so well. Don't know if it's the same on explorers.

That's the same way the rears on the Cobra are but the Explorer is different. You just use a C clamp to compress them.

Ron, can you compress them with a regular disc brake pad spreader?

Yes. They just have a regular piston in them.
