When do you consider a car to be fast?
I remember when I got my LS1 Camaro back in 2000 that a 13second car was considered pretty quick. At that point a 12 second car was very fast, an 11 second car was fairly rare, and a 10 second car was usually not very street friendly. Now you can buy a ZR1 Vette and run 10's from the factory, and a handful of other cars also can run in the lower 11's stock. Even more normal sedans like the IS350, 335i, G37, G8 and the Taurus SHO run 13's stock, and easily into the 12's with minimal mods. So, given that, what do you consider to be "fast?"
I still consider a car running in the 13's to be fast for the record.

I guess it depends on what the car is and how it's used. I don't consider the Cobra fast but it still runs high 11s. If it pulled low 11s I would consider it fast. I feel that for a DD Cobra, Camaro, Vette, GTO, etc. low 11s are fast. If you're talking about something like a Civic, RSX, etc. I would consider something like a low 13 fast. I also don't think the Chevelle is fast for the way it's built. I would consider it to be fast if it was running low 10s on the engine and mid 9s on N2O.

I agree with you. It depends on the car. My Eclipse runs mid 15s stock, I got it down to low 14s and Im still able to pass smog. So to me, its fast, well for what it is.

I pretty much agree with Ron, but for the fake of overall comparison I think if you are in the 12's you are fast in the general seanse of what a "fast" car is. The subject of this tread is not fast for what it is though.

It depends on the level of tune. We all have a good idea of what a car should be capable of based on it's set-up. If a car surprises me then I consider it fast, but if someone rolls up in a solid axle 100mm turbo stang on slicks and runs a 11 sec et then I consider it slow.
I will say that 13.0 or more is slow no matter what the car has.

Sorry Sean it looks like you can forget about installing the solid axle and 100mm turbo. Carlos will still consider you slow.

Here's my take on this.
Anything 13 second or better is fast.
To some people 100 mph is way too fast. It is all subjective.
