That's why companies like Edelbrock don't particularly mind these regulatory schemes. It protects their market by raising the barrier to entry. The protected higher cost can be passed onto the consumer as they don't have competing options from start ups. A LOT of shit falls broadly under this kind of system in the US and why everyone has to pay more for a lot of things.
