Once a cruise has been decided upon, is there a way to automatically fire off to other car sites a template message informing them of our intentions? The template might include language saying: “Check back here (Motorgen.com) for updates, as no one here (whatever car site it might be) is available to answer questions.”

Yes. But the script would take a little time and effort to develop and would have to be maintained according to any changes made by other sites. Likewise, somebody would need to keep up on the threads as anyone posted asking questions etc. Definitley something to consider.
