Default Is it reasonable

I took my truck to get a new key fob programmed and while I was there I got sucked into test driving a Ram 3500 extend cab dualie SLT (6.7L Cummings). Is $41K reasonable?

No, stay away from the dually, i loved my old truck but having a dually sucked balls. That price should easily be a crew cab or mega cab

What sucked about a duallie? I wanted 4x4, but a duallie is only $1k more versus ~$6K. I will be going to new hampshire in 2013 for ~ 4 months but then I'm back in SOCAL for ever.

Parking sucks with a dualie. It's bad enough with a fullsize truck, dualie makes it very difficult to find parking in popular places. Especially if you plan to end up in SoCal.

It's also a lot more work constantly watching to make sure you're in the lanes.

Ehh, parking was too much of an issue for me. I could squeeze into some tiny spots once you drive it for a while. The parking issue is when you go to parking structures, the fair or valets anywhere you get charged for parking it was immediately double for over sized. Next was the life of tires, you cant rotate them, so every 6 months youre in at least 2 tires for the front. Brakes are also about twice as expensive as a srw. When i replaced the rotors on my dually the cost twice what they cost on my dads srw truck. Back brake are even more a pita. Dont get me started on the rear end refresh for a dually housing, thats expensive too. The dually is good for alot of stuff, but not if you dont use it near daily.

Here is a price comparison, the sticker on my cc lb 6.4 with all the interior utility options was about 46k meaning you could walk away with it for around 41k. Go for the crew cab you'll be happy you did, imo if you want to save some coin buy used, diesels live for a long time and there is no reason not to reap the benefits of a used price, im always a ford man when it comes to trucks but the cummins is tough as nails and wont give you problems, the truck itself on the other hand....
