That's one of the issues with a suspension that can travel. You can't fit a long enough shock under the body. With a pickup guys just build a bed cage and run shocks in the bed. That's the whole point of the cantilever.
Here is a bolt-in set-up for a Jeep. Article explains it pretty well. I saw this years ago on some guys 4x4 Ranger in some magazine. I like the idea because you get the travel you need without having to cut into a truck bed or SUV cargo area.
