I also believe that there are these things called part time jobs to help in situations where loans or credit cards are not an option.

"I tossed the money order receipt when they received the money order"
BAD IDEA!! Since the machine shop was doing the shipping, you should have hung on to that receipt until the heads were delivered to Mike.
The postal Money order was a great idea. If the shop didn't mail the heads, then you have their asses for mail fraud and the Feds get into the act. As Enkei has said, the post office DOES have records of that shipment. It's in their computers. You just need to get in touch with a postmaaster and not one of the idiot drones that sell stamps.
"Is there anything I can do about it now except pay him back? Nope. Am I doing that? Yep."
Yeah...but a quarter a month isn't paying someone back. Do the right thing. Get a title loan and pay him back the full amount. Mark it down as a lesson learned and to not deal with the talking monkeys at the machine shop again.
"Here's an angle that no one seems to consider. Mind you I am NOT, repeat, NOT, accusing Mike of doing anything of the sort, but no one has even asked or considered that maybe Mike DID receive the heads and they are hidden in his basement."
And that is the problem with trusting "someone else" (the machine shop) to follow through on what was essentially YOUR responsibility. YOU are the one that sold him the heads. YOU should have picked up or had the heads sent to YOU. YOU should have shipped them to Mike, keeping the tracking number for proof that he did receive them. YOU can't blame someone else for your screwups and YOU can't depend on others to "do the right thing".

By the way, I hope that you're not working too hard on those links. I have no idea what they're about, haven't opened even one of them, nor do I intend to.

I've been turned down at the two places I have gone so far, and I won't go into much more detail. I will keep trying, as I have, until either I find a lender, a friend comes through, or I come up with the cash quickly on my own.
Matt, I appreciate the support. I speak just as highly of you to all of my friends. Thanks.

Don't even bother twisting that up. Not worth the time.

Think I may join you. He is so far up the river De Nial it's not funny. No response about a title loan for his Vette. Is it worth less than $770? Or maybe he doesn't own it???
Now you know why we feel the way we do.
I'm joining BRUTAL64 in mode.
