Love and relationships are living things that need to be cared for, they do not take care of themselves with magic. It's really not totally incomparable to a labor of love like on your cherished car or whatever. Put in the attention and get the payoffs. If it feels like drudgery or work, then you've got the wrong person, or car for that matter. But ebbs and flows are normal. Work through the valleys and the peaks get better over time, like a well seated set of rings.

BTW, Disney and other unrealistically romantic notions have F'd a lot of relationships up.

I leave you with what one of my guitar teachers told me (he taught me a lot of things including guitar).

Women. They're the best. They're the worst.

There. Bet you feel better.
Btw, I don't feel that a successful relationship is solely a means of tipping the scale. I believe that falling in love can play a critical factor, but not necessarily in your favor.

Many fall in love with someone who is definitely not best for them. On the contrary, sometimes you don't fall in love with the person that you should, the person that would be an ideal match... chemistry just isn't there. I've been through 5 years of that personally.
