I just remembered I have the heads off the engine that came from Joe for the Snake. I'm sure it has heavier springs on it as they were for the larger cam, maybe some other upgraded hardware we could scavenge.
I would chip in but I just got laid off the other day. When I got another job I will contribute more $$$$.

They're still better than the '75 smog heads that are on the engine now. However, I think the 64cc combustion chamber is larger than what's on there now so it will drop our compression even more.

Guy, do you have a set of the factory forged pistons from one of your engines?

Got it. You know, a lot of people say getting laid off is the best thing that ever happened to them once they get over the initial kick in the nuts. You're free to rethink what you want and where you want to go. I'd suggest that you consider starting your own business. It's very tough, ain't gonna lie, but it's yours and the general trend in graphic design type stuff, as far as I can tell is outsourcing anyway. Only bigger companies have internal GD departments. On the up side, you don't need much in capital expenses or commercial property, you could at the very least just start from your apartment. If you have a good contact network of printers, photographers, web designers etc., you could position yourself as something like a project manager/contractor that helps other startup companies with their marketing material needs. At first and for a while you'd probably be on the poorish side, but potentially could go to a position where you'd make much more than an employee ever would. Of course CA continues to suck and probably will for a while so I can tell it will be daily mortal combat. If you've ever had a hankering to move and Shannon is up for it, there are other much more happening places in the US right now.

Shawn has them and they were pretty worn out.

Since the heads I have for free include springs, how much would a set of hypereutectic pistons that bring the compression up cost? I'm assuming we could use the same rods.

About $115 for a set of pistons, but its not the pistons its the heads. The factory flat tops are only a -4cc. Only option would be a dome and that's not gonna happen.

Why no domes?

How much to deck the heads?

The cast pistons Shawn got me for the Explorer cc'd at -3. I'll have to check and see how far down the pistons in it now are, how big the combustion chambers are and how thick the current gaskets are so I can determine what the compression ratio is. We need it to be at least 9:1 and I'd say no more than 9.5:1 if we are going to be able to run it on 91 pump gas without it detonating at the track.
