$3,400!? That car is beautiful, is that the same one that you painted orange?

So are 90-92 the years to get? I'll talk with my brother and see if he's willing to go for the automatic. And thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

Glenn, I'll see you Sat.

That's the one. I would stick with the 90-92 It's an all around better car. Plus in 91 they changed to the Aero ground effects.

If he has to have a 3rd gen then the 91 -92 is the best of them. BUT, we'll talk about the 3rd gen Sat.

I think I might have talked him into a 4th gen, LT1. They're almost the same price, and they come with a lot more drivetrain.

What is an optispark? And how much is the part? Also, can you get an LS1 for 6K?

BTW, my workout buddy was an animator for Futurama.

Optispark is the satanic ignitions system used on LT motors in both Y and F Body's. It's expensive (don't recall the exact price) and prone to poor performance and failure.

I doubt there are better quality 4th Gen F Body for 6k. You'd probably need to be closer to $10k.

What about an ultra simple and cheap 2nd Gen?

I know, I think I need to come up with a few cool cars under the 6K price range. He was all hooked on the IROC till I showed him the LT1s. I'm sure he could be persuaded.

I found this one though, seems like a sweet deal. LT1 T56 80K miles, short shifter, cold air, flowmaster, 20" wheels for $5.7K The only thing I can see wrong with it, looks like there is some right rear fender damage. Can you see it? And I'm not sure if that's a huge scratch on the hood or a reflection.

That's gonna be loud as all hell. What are the requirements? Does it have to be a V8 Muscle type car? Is potential future gas price a consideration?

These cars need to be shooting straight out of open long tubes for me to consider them loud. Flowmasters are cute as far as I'm concerned. Gas is not terribly important. This car will be mainly used to drive him to school and back (1 mile trip). Doesn't have to be a V8, can be a rotary for all I care. Just has to look cool and have a decent ability to accelerate.

Time for a new thread.
