They're supposed to be arriving tomorrow!!! Friday the 21st. They will be on by dec but I don't think I'm actually going to race...

My transmission is getting worse, need to replace the TOB fork and components with that, check the 3/4 gear syncros, and make sure that i'm not going to cause any additional damage to my car. I would love to make it out, its just not a responsible decision... It's still ok at this point, but if it gets worse I'm going to be out of cash real quick. If everything gets worked out in time I may still make it out but we'll see..

can't break my car.

Damn man, that sucks. Are SRT's known for eating transmissions? Is your clutch good? You're right though it's definitely not worth making your daily driver inoperable for a couple runs at the track.

Ya they are.. most common (meaning almost every SRT owner i talk to has had this problem) problems is the premature wearing of the TOB fork and 3/4 gear syncros going bad. Symptoms include:

Clutch not disengaging completely (tob fork wear) which leads to hard shifting, difficulty getting into reverse and first gear, slower shifts (i blame my slow times at the track on this), vibrations at idle in 1st WITH clutch depressed fully and lots of potentional grinding of the gears.

THIS is the problem that usually leads to 3/4 gear syncros going bad, but i've yet to really deduce the origination of that by itself.

Symptoms include getting locked out of 4th to 3rd gear shifts (pops out in third on a DS, revmatching more aggressively can make shifting bearable but stillan issue that needs to be addressed before much else happens) also grinding in shifts to 3rd gear (usually from 4th). i've only been popped out of 3rd to 4th gear shifts once so far, it's mostly the downshift. I imagine the stress under the added load of higher rpms is the cause for 3rd to pop out more and not 4th.

Really it's a PITA but the TOB Fork and accessories can be had for about 200 new and will fix the hard shifting and clutch issues.

3/4th syncros will be more and harder.

Sean, I'm considering buying a used transmission and starting a rebuild myself with special consideration given to the problem areas. Know anyone who would be willing to help me take it apart and put it together when I'm ready? don't know enough about them but aching to learn!

Yeah, my friend Mike was a MOPAR mechanic for years and can rebuild transmissions. Let me know when you're ready and he can definitely do it.

Who's the OEM for the trans? Usually driveline stuff is the domain of specialists. It requires specific measuring tools and a strong sense for precision work.
